Computer Apprenticeship ProgramBiographical Info
Our dream back in 1986 was to create an atmosphere where developmentally challenged adults could grow in physical, emotional and spiritual well-being and become valued members of the community.
The efforts and financial contributions of the Provincial government, numerous friends, volunteers and parents have helped to make this dream a reality. Continued support from the community and individuals is critical to meeting this need for additional homes and expanded services.
The Computer Apprenticeship Program provides developmentally disabled youth between the ages of 16 and 24 with computer skills training which will enhance their ability to live and work independently within the community. The program is funded by an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant and was created in partnership with the Waterloo Region District School Board, Waterloo Catholic District School Board and Wilmot Technologies. In 2016 50 youth from 13 local high schools have been trained. The program is in demand with a wait list of students wanting to participate and/or return for advanced Training.
